How does the building numbering system work?

Example: 52/106

  • The first number (52) is the building number.
  • The first digit of the three-digit number (1) indicates the floor.
  • The last two digits (06) are the room number.

Explanation:
This room is located in building No. 52 on the first floor, and the room number is 06.

Where do I get my student ID card?

  • You can get your student ID card in building No. 19 – Neuer Graben 27 (StudiOS – Student Information Osnabrück).
  • Before picking up your student ID card, you need to upload a photo.
    Instructions here
  • After a few days, you can collect your student ID card at the INFOPOINT of StudiOS (the INFOPOINT is visible immediately upon entering the building).

This building also houses other important departments for international students:

  • Central Student Advisory Service
  • International Office: For all necessary matters related to your studies, e.g., for Erasmus+ to have the "Certificate of arrival and departure" signed.
  • Bafög Department: BAFÖG is a government financial aid for students to cover education and living expenses if your own funds are insufficient.

Etiquette

  • If you want to discuss something with someone at the university, always pay attention to office hours (applies to professors and, for example, staff at the IO).
  • You can always find office hours on the university website, e.g. International Office office hours.
  • Office hours are always listed next to the name of the person you want to speak to.
  • During office hours, you can go to the person and discuss everything important. If the door is closed, always knock, wait briefly, and then enter.
  • Outside office hours, you should send an email and ask if you may come by.
  • Not sending an email can be considered very impolite.

Information about Building 53

  • Building 53 is perfect if you can't study in the student dormitory or don't always want to be in the library.
  • It is a student center where you can study in peace.
  • You can also book workspaces and rooms here, e.g., for group work.

Where can I print something?

Printing rules:

  • You can only pay with the Campuscard (student ID card). The card is inserted into a card reader before printing.
  • It is possible to print directly from a computer or with a USB stick.
  • From personal experience, a USB stick is recommended, as the connection between computer and printer sometimes does not work.
  • Printing instructions
Please do not rely solely on the instructions, as every printer works a bit differently. If in doubt, ask someone on site – there are always helpful people.

Where do I ask if I have problems?

  • ASTA
  • IO

Opening hours

  • You can always find the opening hours on the respective building's website.
  • Example: Library opening hours
  • Note: Most university buildings are closed on Sundays.
